At 0156hrs Jim Thorpe Fire Department Dispatched to a General Automatic Alarm at the Carbon County Career Technical Institute. Units did a search of the building to find nothing. The original alarm was triggered from the basement area, but after it was investigated by Chief 1102 and Engine 1110, no other issues were present. Squad 1151 was ordered to the rear of the structure, Upon entry , the Company broke into 2 teams and checked the second floor as well, to find it all clear, all units were returned and put back into service at 0230hrs.

Three-Story Building Damaged by Fire in Carbon County


Witnesses say the fire started in the second floor of the building before enveloping other floors. Four area fire departments helped fight the fire, which was put out within three hours. A section of Route 903 in front of the building was shut down as crews attempted to douse the flames. It's still unclear at this point how the fire got started.

A row home went up in flames in Carbon County.
The fire broke out around 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
A witness told Newswatch 16 the woman who lives in the place on West Railroad Street in Nesquehoning ran out of the house with her hair on fire. Authorities said she was taken to Lehigh Valley hospital.
No one else was hurt.
A neighboring home was also damaged in the fire.

of the structure to find fire.

3/25/2009: Around 1:30pm Engine 1110,Tanker 1134, Squad 1151 ,Deputy Chief 1103 Yaich and Department of Forestry Units Victor 12, 57, 55 dispatched to a brush fire in the Leisureland area. Upon arrival found little less than a acre running next to a structure. Fire was attacked by crews and knocked down........
A Jim Thorpe firefighter hoses down a brush fire near 72 Leisure Lane in Jim Thorpe around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Firefighters, along with a crew from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources was able to put out the fire within minutes of their arrival on scene. Though the fire took place in the Leisureland Development, well outside of Jim Thorpe proper, smoke could be seen from the borough's east side.
